Photos from the house(s) in Kali, Medveja, Croatia
The 24th of March 2010 we got a SMS from our good friend, Jack, that there were an old stonehouse for sale in Kali, Medveja, not so far from Konoba Punta, where we use to have so many nice parties for many years (and also very close to lovely Konoba Kali). We got very excited about it and started to check out different possibilites. Our good friends Jack and Zoran started to help us. We can not, by the way, manage this house-project without the help we gets from our very good friends Jack and Zoran. The 1st of May 2010 we went down to look at it and ended up with buying the house (which in fact are two houses, one house with two floors, each floor 41m2 and one nice stable, 29m2). Kali is a very small nice local place 700m walking distance up from Medveja beach (Medveja is 3km from the nice little town Lovran). You can read the history about Lovran here. Few tourists - mostly local people, nice neighbors. Konoba Kali is just 100m away from the houses and serves excellent food and drinks. You can read more about Konoba Kali here, and you can also see a little clip from Konoba Kali on YouTube. The house is down under the big mountain called Učka with its lovely nature. We went back to the houses again in July and also in September 2010. In September the work with the total renovation started. The plan is that the houses will be ready during March 2011. The history says that the houses are over 100years old and has existed through different times as houses of the countries of Austrian-Hungary, Italy, Jugoslavija and now Croatia. Very exciting! Our plan is to make the two houses in a kind of Italian, Mediterrian, Rustic style. We are really looking forward to work further with this project, see how it will end and ofcourse to spend a lot of lovely times there in the future. In the end of November 2010 we took an oval weekend and travelled down there again and followed up the house-project. We had a lovely time there. Next visit were the first weekend of March 2011 and then we were there in the Easter of 2011 where the houses were ready. Lovely. We are very happy! Next visits were in the last part of May, the summerholliday in July and in October. We had lovely times all visits.
