MY FAMILY AND CATS
FROM THE VERY BEGINNING 1980 UNTIL MAY 2001

My name is Liv B. Holst and I live 20 minutes north of Oslo together with my husband, Knut and my youngest daughter Elin. My oldest daughter, Hanne, has moved out, she is studying marketing at The Metropolitian University in Leeds, England.

I am working as a medical secretary at Akershus University hospital.  My husband is at the mounted police in Oslo, and Elin has inherited his interest for horses. When she is not at school she spends almost all her time in a stable nearby riding her Islandic horse, Kôlur.

We are owned by 7 Siamese girls, of which I will tell later on.

It all started in 1980 when my husband promised me a cat for our first wedding anniversary.

From when it started 1980

At first I wanted a colourpoint longhair.  I soon found out that they did not have the correct temperament or length of coat to suit me.

But the Himalayan colours did really fascinate me so I decided to contact a Siamese breeder.  I have never regret my choice of breed (well, maybe once in a while when I find my dinner almost eaten up, my best vase broken, the ladies in heat ……. )

Miri-Kats Athene (1980-1982)

Miri-Kats Athene entered our house 1st January 1981. She was a bluepoint of medium type, but of lovely colours. She and our dog Sala, became friends in less than a week. She loved children, but tried to scare all our adult friends away from the house.

Sala (1979-1990)  and her 12 Friends

We were told that a litter might calm her.
Athene, or Tine as we called her, had her first – and last – litter the 12th of April 1982.
This was the first litter under the Liberho‘s prefix: Cinderella (Cindy), Caruso, Casanova and Valentino (Pio).

This litter did certainly not calm her down; she now became a really “Attack cat”. We almost had to put out the sign “Beware of the Cat” on the front door.

We had to put her to sleep, but kept two of her kittens Cindy and Pio.

GIP IC Liberho`s Lilac Valentine (1982-1993)

Pio was a lovely cat; he loved people – and especially me.  When he heard my voice in the showhall he cried out like mad to have my attention. He did quite well at the show bench. He became both an International Champion and a Grand International Premier. He won some Best in Shows and in 1992 he was the mostwinning veteran, all breeds. I was so proud of him, even though his ears were much too small and his eyes much too big.
As told he loved all people, but did not prefer smokers. He used to sit on the top of the sofa, and when they started to smoke – he started coughing and looking at them with a mean look. (This was the only time he had the correct Siamese expression!)

He also impressed many by doing things on command, just like a dog.

Cindy thought people was OK, but loved our dog much more. Cindy had 3 litters, but I was not happy with their temperament. They were OK in their new homes, but they did not like to be shown. I therefore had Cindy neutered.

Liberho`s Blue Cinderella (1982-1993)

Because of this temperament is very important to me when selecting cats for breeding. I will try to avoid that new Siamese owners will have to experience the same as I did the first years of breeding and showing.

Cindy, Pio and our dog, Sala, all died at the age of 11+, and we miss them all a lot.
I will never have a cat like Pio again.

In 1983 I was looking for a new queen. This time I knew what to look for.
I wanted a cat from good breeding lines, of nice type and of lovely temperament.
17th of May 1983 this cat was mine, Bluaco`s Dark Clasica. She is in the pedigree of many Liberho`s cats today. She is in the 8th generation of my two youngest Norwegin queens (N) Sinornatas Libertine and Ch. Liberho`s Hot Gossip.

IC Bluaco`s Dark Clasica (1983-1990)

Clasica had 25 male kittens  before her first female kittens was born – Liberho`s Dark Lady Incredible. She had 37 kittens before she died  from cancer 9 years old. Many of these won a lot of prices.

Her most famous kittens are:

IC Liberho`s HiFi CD (1985-)

EC Liberho`s Lucky Strike

EC Liberho`s Dark Queen of the Classic

IC Liberho`s Lady Incredible

IC Liberho`s HiFi CD

IP Liberho`s Hot Shot

In 1985 I had a lilacpoint girl from Sweden out of two Australian imports, Coccinels Nobless.  She was a very nice and soft cat, but unfortunately afraid of people.

She did only have two litters, with one kitten in each litter both with defects, both times caesareans so I had her neutered.

GIC Coccinels Noblesse(1986-1990)

After being neutered she became even more nervous and used everything else but the cat tray as a toilet. We tried everything and I took her to the vet 3 times to put her to sleep – but each time I brought her home again – I just couldn’t manage to do this to her.  So at last one of my friends said: “You got to do it before she ruins everything in the house. I will come with you and see that you fullfill it this time”. And well, I did.
My hope for the future is that I never have to bring a healthy cat to the veterinary for this purpose again.

I kept two of Clasicas kittens, Liberho`s Tabby Love and Liberho`s Tabby Minett.

Liberho`s tabby Minett (1988-1995)
And my daughter Elin (born 1985)

Minett did only have 3 litters before I had to neuter her.
One of her kittens, Liberho`s Sweet Mico went to Australia together with Liberho`s Pink Pride (Tabby Loves son).
Minett died from cancer, just like her mother 7 years old.

Pr. Liberho`s Tabby Love(1987-1998)

Tabby Love was a super queen and mother.
Her father was IC Nools Pink Patrik. She was mated to her half brother EC Coccinels Turbo 2 times, in all 12 kittens.

From this combination are both EC Liberho`s Rachade Astasi in Lilac and IC IP Liberho`s Pink Punky DM. These names can be seen in many pedigrees of the mostwinning cats today.

Tabby Love died at the age of 11 in 1999 also she from mammae cancer.

EC Liberho's Rachade Astasi in Lilac (1989-)

Tabby Love was mated to EC Bajas of Reinsnos (A grandson of Clasica)

EC Liberho`s Dark Queen of the Classic
and EC Bajas av Reinsnos

Out of this litter I kept EC Liberho`s Tabby Yazzmina. She was a beautiful cat.
And combined with the lines of GIC Freudenreich Kalendergirl she had many nice kittens.

EC Liberho`s Tabby Yazzmina (1991-1995)
and my daughter Hanne (1981)

After the birth of her last litter she got galloping cancer. She died when the litter was only 3 weeks old. Fortunately Kalendergirl (see below) got a litter one week later and became their foster mother. She was also their grandmother since Liberho`s Charming Comet was the father of this litter. The girl in this litter was EC Liberho`s O`Heavenly Charmina DM. More about her later, because I have forgotten to tell how Kalendergirl came to Norway.

My cats had done quite well at the show bench. They looked extremely nice in profile, but their eyes were too big and round.

I decided to bring a cat from England. And after studying the judges report in Cats magazine and reading reports from those who had been in England I found that some lines were more interesting than others. My first visit to an English cat show was the National in 1989, this time celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary.
I came in contact with Barbara Herolds, with the prefix  Freudenreich. She had two cats from the lines I was looking for.  After more than 1 year and several trips to England, Freudenreich Kalendergirl, Bibi,  came to Norway.

She lived up to every expectation. She gave most of the Liberho`s kittens what I had been looking for the right devilish Siamese expression and beautiful temperament.

For details and more about Bibi go to the site “Bibis kittens” and Roll of honour.

BiBi had 39 kittens before she was neutered last autumn. She is now living as a healthy and playful neuter at the age of 12+.  She loves to tease my other 6 queens and looks very satisfied when she has succeeded in getting them under the sofa for in the next moment to play with them again.  The others have some problems in understanding her humour.

Here pictures of two of her most famous sons:

In April 1995 EC (N) Philipps Liberty Bell DM came to our house together with her whole family. This because  her breeder Aase Philipps had to go to the hospital. When her mother  went back to Aase
, Liberty Bell stayd with us. Liberty Bell is a granddaughter of EC Liberho`s Rachade Astasi in Lilac.

EC (N) Philipps Liberty Bell DM (1995)

Liberty Bell is the mother of many “Cat of the Year” winners (See her own page and Roll of honour). The winning combination was with EC EP SW`00 Liberho`s Limelight Lover DM.

Unfortunately there was a lot of protruding sternum in this combination so all these kittens are neutered. If you want to see more of her  beautiful kittens go Roll of Honour.

Both Kalendergirl and  Liberty Bell  are now our two  lazy neuters.

My 3 queens are Charmina`s granddaughter Kandy, Kandys daughter Hot Gossip, Kandy`s niece Libertine a
All my 3 queens have both Kalendergirl and Bluaco`s Dark Clasica in their pedigree and the father of Hot Gossip is Liberty Bells brother Ch (N) Philipps Classic Stingray.

For news after May 2001 go to the girls own pages, nursery or news.

I have no stud - and I do not want to have a stud.
Therefore I will thank all the stud owners my queens have been
allowed to visit during all these years.
